THE FILM

The toughest job in law enforcement – the worst crime in the world.

he Children in the Pictures takes us inside Task Force Argos, a renowned Australian-based police investigative team, as they go undercover to rescue children from online sexual abuse. From infiltrating global criminal networks to hunting down the world’s worst abusers, the Argos team shines a light on the dark reality of online child sexual abuse and the fight we all face in stopping it.

Their fight begins in the days of floppy disks and dial-up modems, but rapidly escalates as police forces around the world start wading into the dangerous dark web. A handful of child sexual abuse materials quickly grows into millions as the the internet boom sees once-lone abusers coalesce into giant global online criminal networks. Then in 2005, one arrest changes Argos forever.

The rise of smartphones and social media has given children the tools to create and share content of themselves with anyone around the world. For Task Force Argos, this means another avenue for child sexual abusers to gain access to potential victims. With 12 million children going online for the first time in 2020, Task Force Argos is now calling on all of us to help keep them safe.
